Date:1/28/08 $200 Million in Grants to Municipalities Attorney General Michael Mukasey announced Thursday that the Justice Department plans to propose $200 million in grants to municipalities to help combat gang and gun violence. The funds will be included in President Bush's budget proposal to be unveiled next month and are intended to help establish new task forces in which federal agents work with police from several neighboring jurisdictions to target armed youths and gangs. It would be a significant increase from the $75 million awarded last year. "This initiative will help communities address their specific violent crime challenges, especially where multiple jurisdictions are involved," Mukasey told the National Conference of Mayors in Washington. "We'll be able to send targeted resources where they are needed the most and where they show the most promise.". "Task forces and matching grant programs like Project Safe Neighborhoods, and Weed and Seed, and the COPS program really help," said Mayor Terry Bellamy, of Asheville, North Carolina.
Date:11/7/07 Randall Funding Wins $1,581,538 to Support Healthy Marriage We are pleased to announce that we have secured $1,581,538 for a countywide Action Organization in California through the HHS ACF Head Start Healthy Marriage grant. This funding will help identify specific steps to increase the proportion of children raised by their married mothers and fathers, thereby reducing the incidence of child maltreatment, juvenile delinquency, truancy, and other social pathologies that children of divorce are more likely to experience. This funding will also allow local youth and adults to gain greater access to marriage education services and acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to form and sustain a healthy marriage.
Date:11/1/07 Randall Funding secures $2,503,186 for the treatment of children and families affected by methamphetamine abuse We are pleased to announce that one of our municipal clients in the Rocky Mountain Midwest has received a $2,503,186 grant from the Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF). This funding will facilitate a regional partnership between the City’s Human Services Family and Child Welfare Division, state child welfare and alcohol and drug divisions and two local substance abuse treatment providers. This regional partnership will provide family-centered services to improve outcomes for children affected by methamphetamine and other forms of substance abuse, substance dependent parents and caretakers. This program will also work to integrate child welfare, substance abuse treatment and court systems into a cohesive infrastructure.
